How to Increase Power in Last War: A Practical Upgrade Plan

LW Spy · Independent fan website

To increase power in Last War, first decide whether you need a stronger fighting squad, an HQ unlock, more available soldiers or an event threshold. These are different goals. A larger account total does not automatically solve a battle you keep losing. This guide gives you a practical upgrade order based on the obstacle in front of you, without claiming that one investment is best for every account.

Choose the next upgrade by its purpose

Start with one goal for the week. Read the requirement in the game before spending resources, then write down the prerequisite, cost and benefit. Do not spread scarce materials across every available upgrade just to make the total rise.

Your immediate problemWhat to check firstWhat to avoid
Main squad loses quicklyFormation, skill levels, gear and the battle reportTraining more reserves as a substitute for a working lineup
Next HQ is lockedRequired building and research levels in the upgrade panelUnrelated buildings that delay the prerequisite
Not enough soldiers availableBarracks, drill-ground capacity and wounded troopsSpending every resource while leaving no recovery reserve
Event chest is closeThe current scoring rules and remaining timeAssuming all power increases earn the same points

Invest in one usable hero squad

For squad performance, review the five heroes you actually deploy. Check who takes damage first, which skills are underdeveloped and whether useful equipment is on an unused hero. Choose a specific improvement, then compare battle reports against a similar opponent. A new hero at low investment is not automatically an upgrade over an established one. Do not buy or promote a hero solely because an article calls it the current meta.

Plan construction and research together

HQ progression raises important limits, but its value depends on what you do after unlocking them. Open the next HQ requirement panel and plan the necessary building and research chain first. Keep resources for the follow-up upgrade you actually need. For research, read the effect, not just the displayed power gain: a capacity unlock or an upgrade affecting your main formation may be more useful than a larger number elsewhere. Use current in-game costs; alliance help and bonuses make a universal completion-time table misleading.

Train sustainably and coordinate event timing

Check capacity and recovery needs before spending training speedups. Compare training a new soldier with promoting an existing one in your current barracks screen; the resource cost and event credit are not the same question. Where the schedule allows it, complete planned work during the matching VS and Arms Race objectives. Do not delay an essential unlock or waste capped production merely to chase a future scoring window.

A weekly progress note you can actually use

Track a small set of comparable measurements. Take the second measurement under the same conditions, including the same squad and active bonuses. Separate recovery after losses from new growth; otherwise a successful healing session can look like a new upgrade strategy.

  • Goal: one specific unlock, battle improvement or event threshold.
  • Baseline: account total, selected squad power and available soldiers.
  • Chosen upgrade: requirement, resource cost and expected practical benefit.
  • Result: what changed, what did not, and the next bottleneck.

Why power numbers sometimes mislead

A scout result, profile total and a selected squad screen can describe different things or different moments. Do not compare them as if they were identical live measurements. A lower-power opponent can still have a better-developed fighting formation. If a requirement says total hero power, do not assume extra soldiers will satisfy it.
