Last War Troop Composition, Soldier Levels and March Capacity
LW Spy · Independent fan website
In Last War, do not confuse the vehicle types of your heroes with the soldiers carried by a squad. Tank, Aircraft and Missile Vehicle are hero types; the size and availability of your trained force are a separate planning problem. A generic infantry/cavalry/archer ratio from another game is not a Last War army build.
Four numbers to check before changing a squad
Write down these values separately. A full drill ground does not mean every march can carry the whole reserve, and a powerful formation may still be short of available soldiers.
| Check | Where to look | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Hero roles and vehicle types | Selected five-hero formation | Determines the lineup and its displayed type bonus |
| Troop capacity / command | Hero attributes and squad preview | Limits the force that formation can carry |
| Soldier level and availability | Barracks and troop overview | Shows what can actually be assigned |
| Wounded troops and recovery | Hospital and battle report | Separates recoverable losses from replacement needs |
How to get more troops without wasting the queue
Use the barracks to compare available training and promotion options. Check the exact requirements for the next soldier level, available drill-ground space and the resources you can spare after essential upgrades. Keep a recovery reserve before a planned fight. Training speedups are most useful when the resulting soldiers have an immediate purpose or the action also meets an event objective you already intended to pursue.
How to increase march capacity
Check Command or troop-capacity attributes in the relevant hero and formation panels, then read the upgrade preview before spending. Hero development can affect the number of soldiers carried, but an HQ upgrade is not a universal fixed increase to every march. A bigger overall reserve also does not automatically raise a particular formation's cap. Compare the same squad before and after one change.
Rallies, defense and gathering need different decisions
For a rally, follow the leader's event-specific instructions and verify the dispatched formation. For base defense, inspect the wall settings and the likely cost of losses; total account power alone cannot prove that a base will survive. For gathering, check the task preview, return time and local alliance rules. Do not describe soldiers as expendable just because they are outside the main formation.
- Before combat: check the target in-game, squad availability and hospital headroom.
- Before gathering: confirm the destination, duration and whether you can recall in time.
- Before logging out: check protection separately from the location of deployed squads.
Avoid unrelated upgrade myths
Radar missions are not improved by an invented Radar Power equipment stat, and Last War HQ progression should not be described as Furnace progression. Do not spend materials based on a claimed universal hero-reset item or a fixed march-size increase without finding that option in your client. If an older guide mixes those systems together, verify its instructions before acting.
A practical next step
Take a screenshot of your formation and troop overview, select one capacity or lineup problem, and fix that problem first. Use the guides below for a concrete formation baseline and a resource-aware growth plan.
