Last War Resource Management During War: Protect and Grow

LW Spy · Independent fan website

Alliance wars in Last War: Survival are expensive. Training replacement troops, healing wounded soldiers, and upgrading defenses all cost resources. Alliances that run out of resources mid-war are forced to retreat. Smart resource management is the difference between sustaining a long campaign and collapsing after the first battle.

Shield Before You Gather

The biggest resource mistake during war is sending gathering troops without a shield. Your enemies are scanning for exactly this. Use LW Spy yourself to check if enemy scouts are active before sending troops to gather. Better yet, gather during off-peak hours when enemy activity is lowest.

Plunder Enemy Resources

Offense is the best resource strategy. Use the Dispatch Mission Scanner to find plunderable missions on enemy servers. Cross-server plunder lets you steal resources from multiple servers simultaneously. This funds your war effort while draining the enemy.

Coordinate Alliance Resource Sharing

Alliance members with surplus resources should send them to members who are troop-training. Use the Alliance Scanner to identify which members are actively fighting (and burning resources) versus which are safely shielded with full stores. Redistribute accordingly.

When to Stop Fighting

Track your alliance total resources over time. If they are declining faster than you can replenish through gathering and plunder, you need to either end the war or scale back operations. Intelligence from LW Spy helps you assess whether the war is sustainable by monitoring enemy strength trends.

How Do I Lose Troops on Purpose?

Counter-intuitive question that comes up around event mechanics: certain Last War events (notably Wounded-Soldier Reward and some Survivor Token events) reward you for having a specific count of injured or lost troops in a window. The intentional-loss strategies: (1) Send a small force at a much-stronger target to take guaranteed losses (cheap, controllable). (2) Bait a rally onto your unshielded base by intentionally exposing during a known enemy active window — risky but high-volume. (3) Walk a gather army into a player-territory tile owned by a hostile alliance during a Faction war event — guaranteed loss with no rally setup. The first method is the most controllable; aim for 30-50% of the event's loss threshold per attempt and stop short to preserve future event progress. Bring weak troops on these intentional-loss runs — losing T5 troops to farm a token-event milestone is bad math.

Defending Against Enemy Resource-Denial Attacks

A skilled enemy alliance does not just hit your bases — they target your gathering economy specifically to cut off resource income. The signature is concentrated rallies on resource tiles where your members are gathering, not on the bases themselves. The defence has three layers. First, rotate gathering hours: if your alliance always gathers at 10 AM server time, you become predictable. Spread gathering across windows so enemies cannot stage rallies for one peak. Second, scatter gather destinations: ten members all gathering on tiles in one corner of the map are one rally away from total loss. Third, counter-attack their gathering. Run the Troops Gathering scan against active enemy alliance members; their armies on resource tiles are undefended and a rally into a gathering force is one of the highest-EV plays in the game during war. The goal is to flip the resource-denial dynamic on them — if you destroy more of their gathering income than they destroy of yours, attrition mathematics ends the war in your favour.
